Key point: Asker is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not sell personal data, serve third-party advertising, use IDFA or track people across other companies’ apps and websites.
1. Scope and controller
Asker is operated by Individual Entrepreneur Valerii A. Nikitin ("Asker", "we", "us"). This policy applies to the Asker iOS app, asker-app.com, support requests and related services.
2. Data we collect
- Account: email address, authentication-provider identifiers, account and session identifiers, and security records.
- Profile: name, date of birth and age, selected city, gender, who you want to meet, dating goal, interests, question, answers and photos.
- Activity and communications: profile choices, matches, chat messages, game answers and decisions, blocks, reports and moderation records.
- Purchases: App Store product and transaction identifiers, Q balance, wallet history and boosts. Apple handles card and billing data; Asker does not receive card numbers.
- Device and diagnostics: push token, app and operating-system version, IP address and limited request logs needed for security and reliable delivery.
- Support: name if provided, email, topic, message, technical context and a one-way hash of the network address used to prevent spam.
- Product interaction: when you enable analytics, a random per-install identifier, an opaque Asker profile identifier after sign-in, and events such as screen views, onboarding steps and feature actions. Analytics events do not contain profile text, messages, answers, email or advertising identifiers.
Location
With permission, the app can obtain one foreground location and ask Apple’s geocoding service to suggest a city. Coordinates are not sent to or stored by the Asker backend. The selected city and city-catalog identifier are stored. You can always choose a city manually.
3. How and why we use data
We use data to provide and secure accounts; personalize mutually compatible discovery; deliver questions, answers, games, matches and chats; process Q purchases and boosts; send requested notifications; moderate content; prevent abuse and fraud; answer support; understand product reliability; comply with law; and enforce our Terms. Depending on your location, the legal basis is performance of our contract, legitimate interests in safety and operation, consent where requested, and legal obligations.
4. Service providers and disclosures
We disclose only what is needed to providers that operate Asker: Apple for App Store payments, push notifications and optional geocoding; Google Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In for optional login; hosting and storage providers; OpenAI for automated image-safety screening when enabled; and Mixpanel or Google Analytics for pseudonymous product analytics when configured. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect people and the service, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
A photo submitted to OpenAI screening is not accompanied by the member’s name, email or Asker profile identifier. Providers process data under their own terms and contractual safeguards.
5. Retention, security and transfers
Account, profile and communication data is generally kept while the account is active. Support records are kept as long as needed to answer the request, maintain an audit trail and prevent abuse. Purchase, fraud, moderation and legal records may be retained longer where necessary. Deleted information can remain temporarily in restricted backups until the normal backup cycle expires.
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and access is restricted by role and operational need. Providers may process data outside your country under applicable transfer safeguards. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Your privacy choices
You can edit profile details, choose a city manually, decline location and notification permissions, enable or disable anonymous analytics in Profile, block or report people, and permanently delete the account in Profile → Delete account. Account deletion removes or de-identifies the account, profile, photos, matches, chats and other user-generated content except limited records that must be retained for safety, fraud, accounting or law.
You may request access, correction, export, deletion, restriction or objection where those rights apply. Submit a Privacy request through Support from the account email.
7. Website cookies
asker-app.com does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. The support form uses one short-lived, first-party security cookie to protect submissions. It is not used for profiling.
8. Children
Asker is not intended for anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor created an account, we will restrict and delete it as appropriate. Report a suspected underage account immediately.
9. Changes
We will update this policy before materially changing our data practices and revise the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app.
